Lavender English - Plant
6720- English Lavender. Lavandula angustifolia
Perennial (hardy in zones 5-8)
This standard clump forming variety is adored for its delightfully sweet scented and high yielding essential oil production. The aromatic oils have a relaxing effect and is typically used medicinally to combat stress. Try adding the flowers as a splash of colour to a salad, or use in a Herbes de Provence blend to spice meat! Remember, a little goes a long way. Harvest just before the buds open, to optimize oil retention, and hang stems upside down in bunches in a warm dry spot for a few weeks. Commonly grown in rock gardens or as a border plant. Pollinator friendly & deer resistant! Like any other variety, English Lavender must be located in full sun and planted in well drained alkaline sandy soil, ideally in a raised bed or rock garden as it is prone to root rot if conditions are too wet. Bloom time June-July and lasts 3-4 weeks. Height 2-3 feet.
